'Nobody' has almost everybody in Manila doing the "clap-clap-point" dance step.
Confused? Sounds like Korean to you? That's because it is.
South Korean girl group, The Wonder Girls with members Sunye, Ye-eun, Sunmi, Sohee and Yubin, is currently taking Manila - and the whole of Asia - by storm with their infectious single, “Nobody.”
A big hit in Korea since early 2008, The Wonder Girls has crossed over to Manila in such a big way that even the world-famous Cebu inmates have a video which show the boys dancing to the song.
Prominent in the video is the "clap-clap-point" dance step, which in other homemade videos, show performances by a group of Korean policemen, die-cast "Transformers" action figures and the novelty group Wonder Boys.
The Wonder Girls was created by Korean singer-songwriter Park Jin-Young (known as the Korean Michael Jackson) and they are signed to his talent agency JYP Entertainment. The girl group was introduced via their own show on MTV called “MTV Wonder Girls”.
To date, The Wonder Girls has released a mini-album (“The Wonder Begins”), three full-length albums (“The Wonder Years”, “So Hot” and “The Wonder Years Trilogy”) and they have earned two Daesangs (their equivalent to the Grammy's).
They have three consecutive Number Ones under their belts: “Tell Me”, “So Hot” and “Nobody”
The Wonder Girls recently joined the Jonas Brothers North American Tour. The girls' US debut album is up for release next year.

Being in the entertainment industry for 9 years, Ella has always given others an image of being a “Kai Xin Guo” (lit transl: source / bundle of joy). But recently in S.H.E’s new pictorial book - [3 Spas of Love], she revealed on the darkness period of her growing up years which nobody knew. One of the most startling incidents was her near-attempt to cut her own wrist with a knife (for cutting fruits) due to her parents’ constant quarrels, “Are you both satisfied only if I do this (cut own wrist)?” Fortunately Ella’s grandfather managed to snatch the knife away in time, so as not to result in a regrettable tragedy.
Being a filial daughter, each year during the Chinese New Year, Ella would organize a barbeque party at her home in Pingtung. Her parents would also follow her everywhere to watch S.H.E’s concert performances and her whole family will be very happy.
But in the book, Ella shared on her experiences during her schooling days when she was troubled by her parents’ constant quarrelling. As her father was more of a male chauvinist and a very obstinate and “man” guy, and in addition, Ella’s grandmother did not really like her mother; thus her mother had a very difficult time at home.
The 28-year old Ella shared, with such family problems, she was under tremendous pressure and her mood was gloomy then. Each day, she would be worrying in school, whether her parents were fighting at home. In her heart then, she would reproach her father, and pondered what wrong has her mother done to deserve such harsh treatment. Thus, finally on the day when Ella’s bottled up emotions exploded, she stood before her parents with the knife in her hands and shouted, “How do you expect me to concentrate in my studies in school, while you are constantly fighting?”
In response to these past experiences, Ella does not wish to elaborate any further and said, “I have shared what I could, and have no further wish to dwell on the pains of my family in the past.” To her mother, Ella full of heartaches and loved her dearly. She described, “My mother is a very traditional woman. This means that despite she could be very busy and working (household chores) till she nearly drop dead, and nobody offer her any words of praise, she would never grumble even a word.” Ella made a wish to become a “Little Sun”, and to use all her might to bring shine and brightness to everyone and protect them, and she added, “Especially for my mother.” Perhaps, this is really her biggest motivation to become a “Kai Xin Guo” for everyone now.

[Down With Love] Hectic Filming – Michael Zhang “Accidentally” Kisses Jerry Yan
Idol drama [Down With Love] is in the midst of hectic filming in Hangzhou, and the cast members include Jerry Yan, Ella and Michael Zhang etc. When sharing on his most impressionable scene while filming, Zhang shared, “I have kissing scenes with almost every actress in the serial, with the exception of Su Fei (starring Jade Liu Li Yang).” He even revealed there was actually a “kissing scene” between Jerry Yan and himself. “In that scene, I was supposed to go kiss Ella, but Jerry suddenly popped his head over and the scene ended as a kiss between Jerry and myself.”

MUSIC CHARTS REVIEW FOR KOREA
2NE1 has won their 3rd consecutive #1 on music charts.
The group’s current hit song ‘I Don’t Care’ is #1 again on music site Monkey3 for the 5th week of July (27th July – 2nd August). The song went on the chart at #11 and in just 2 weeks’ time it went up to the #1 position and this is their 3rd week winning #1.
Meanwhile, Park MyungSoo and Jessica’s duet ‘NaengMyun’ is at #2 and Future Liger (Tiger JK, Yoo JaeSeok and Yoon MiRae)’s ‘Let’s Dance’ is at #4 – both songs were from the special episode for Infinite Challenge.

MISS NO GOOD PREMIERS ON ABS-CBN

LIKE EDSA AGAIN. Lea Salonga’s ‘Bayan Ko’ rendition transported people back to 1986 when the song became the anthem of a peaceful revolt for democracy. GMANews video grabLea Salonga performed a soaring rendition of “Bayan Ko” at the requiem Mass for the soul of former President Corazon Aquino with mourners raising the “L” or “Laban” (fight) sign reminiscent of the rallies and demonstrations during the dying years of the Marcos regime.
A patriotic song written during the American occupation of the Philippines, “Bayan Ko” (My Country) gained prominence during the funeral of assassinated former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino in 1983 and in subsequent protest rallies that culminated in the People Power Revolution of 1986.
Crowds gathered outside the Manila Cathedral also applauded as the last verse of “Bayan Ko” was sung. Yellow confetti poured down from a nearby building.
In 1990, Mrs. Aquino gave Salonga a Presidential Award of Merit for bringing pride to the country with her success in Broadway theater in the US and UK.
Dressed in white, the world-renowned performer was requested by the Aquino family to perform at the requiem Mass before the late President is laid to rest Wednesday afternoon at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque.
“Parang EDSA ulit. Naluluha ako (It’s like EDSA all over again. I’m tearing up),” said one of the mourners who braved the rains outside the Manila Cathedral.
Mrs. Aquino, who was propelled to power by the “People Power Revolution” of February 1986, restored democracy in the country after more than 13 years of Marcos’ dictatorial rule.
She peacefully died on Aug. 1 after over a year battling stage-4 colon cancer.
Her remains will be placed beside those of her husband, Ninoy, at the family’s mausoleum.

"mainland F4" Meteor Shower sidestory much applauded
The much-anticipated drama "Meteor Showers" will on August 8th on Hunan TV. Many trailers and teasers have been released on Hunan TV and various websites, one trailer, that of Xiao Han and Wei Chen's plotline, was much applauded by viewers, and their relationship is one of the many things to looks forward to in this drama.
In "Meteor Shower," Xiao Han plays Murong Yunduo, the older sister of the male lead, while Wei Chen plays Ye Shuo, one of the four male leads in the drama. The two have a difficult older female-younger male relationship. Itazura na Kiss
Itazura na Kiss (It started with a Kiss) comes to Korea
Group Eight, the producers who butchered adapted Hana Yori Dango into the hot mess that was Boys Before Flowers, is adapting another popular Japanese manga for Korean television: Itazura na Kiss, or Playful Kiss, which was turned into an anime series as well as the Taiwanese drama It Started With a Kiss. The Taiwan Drama starred Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng.
Normally, I’d be all for a kdrama adaptation of what sounds like a cute romantic trendy drama, but Group Eight has pretty much lost its credibility with me after Boys Before Flowers. Not that I didn’t enjoy watching it, but it was nowhere near what it could, and should, have been. Group Eight is often mentioned as producing Goong, but that’s not strictly true (there was that production company split with Group Eight and Eight Peaks). The titles that Group Eight can claim as exclusively theirs are Fantasy Couple (okay) and Goong S (highly disappointing). On the other hand, they’re also doing Tamna the Island, which looks promising.
According to Group Eight president Song Byung-joon, the adaptation of Itazua na Kiss is next on their slate after Tamna, and they are currently in the planning stages. The licensing has been finalized and they are currently in the process of finding a scriptwriter. They are aiming to broadcast the series (I’ll use the Korean title, 장난스런 키스 or Playful Kiss) next summer.
Song did add that because the original manga never had an official ending (the writer passed away before finishing the series), the Korean version of Playful Kiss may choose to make its own, “entirely different, Korean-style ending.” Just as long as nobody dies of sudden cancer harboring a hidden birth secret, we hope.

Group 2NE1’s first debut album is just a few steps away from reaching the 100K album sales mark.
The title song ‘I Don’t Care’ off their 1st minialbum is also #1 on various music charts. Their achievements as a newcomer singer group is almost unbelievable, and threatening the stronghold of the existing strong singers.
YG Entertainment said, “Even though it is about 1 month since the album is released, it is still selling about 1000 copies a day. We are continuously adding to the production of 2NE1’s minialbum, and up till now we have produced 80K copies, and we have just recently produced anohter 20K. With that the production for 2NE1’s minialbum has crossed the 100K mark.”
All these while, for a new singer to do well on album chart is not easy. For existing singers, it has to depend on a certain degree of fandom to achieve it and the effect can only be seen at the start of their album release.
YG Entertainment added, “2NE1, who has just released their 1st album, is a group with more to show. Do anticipate more from them as they will be showing more new sides of them.”
Meanwhile, 2NE1 is #1 for 3 weeks through on KBS Music Bank, and #1 2 weeks through on SBS Inkiagyo, doing very well on music shows.

SS501’s Asia Tour in Seoul PERSONA will be held in 1 weeks time.
Coming 1st and 2nd August, the concert which is held for 2 days, marks the start of their Asia Concert, their first since their debut 4 years ago.

The Scene of "Ella-Maruko-chan" Had Everyone Laughing
A yellow hat, a white blouse with round collar, a royal blue pleated skirt, white socks and black shoes…when Ella arrived to the set after the change of costume, she immediately had everyone on the set burst out laughing. Everyone unanimously agreed that Ella looked just like Chibi-Maruko-chan. Upon hearing everyone's surprised responses, "Ella-Maruko-chan" shyly bowed to everyone: [Thank you! Thank you!]
This scene was depicting Yang Guo imagining herself as a pitiful Chibi-Maruko-chan when she was being scolded by Auntie Qi (Zhong's mother). Because it was supposed to be an imaginary scene, therefore, the performance must necessarily be more exaggerated and comical. The actress portraying the mother pointed a finger at Yang Guo and scolded harshly: [Look at you…this waist…aiyo, so thick that I don't even know what to say…and this face…" Ella would put on various expressions such as pouting with her head bent low or squeezing all her facial features together or biting on a finger or looking scared. Her exaggerated cartoon-like expressions had everyone on the set painfully controlling their urge to laugh. As soon as the director yelled [Cut], everybody immediately burst into laughing uproariously, even Ella herself was bent with laughter. When she looked at the replay, the Chibi-Maruko-chan clad Ella asked the director with trepidation: [Director, is this OK?] Director Ke pondered briefly and replied: [I think there was too much detail, too scattered. Why don't we do this one more time? This time, slightly more concentrated.] "Ella-Maruko-chan" wailed: [One more time! There really goes my image now!

Off-screen Ella was the "Empress" that Could Read Palms
Just before the start of shooting the night scenes, the crew suddenly heard someone singing [Eyebrows as high as the sky, lush cheeks full of light]. It was Ella in a T-shirt, jeans and flip-flops, singing the theme song to an old Taiwanese drama [Empress Wu] and walking in with a slow and deliberate swagger. No matter how they looked at her, Ella's "girl-next-door" get-up was simply incongruous with that of the almighty "empress", and the crew started laughing uncontrollably. However, despite the laughter, Ella immediately enjoyed "Empress"-like treatment as Jerry Yan, who was sitting on a sofa memorizing his lines, obligingly took up a piece of wet Kleenex and started to wipe her feet.
In the drama, Yang Guo's father was a famous feng-shui master. Perhaps it was due to such influence that between takes, Ella became an amateur fortune-teller. She grabbed Taiwan actor Michael Zhang's hand and suddenly exclaimed loudly: [Aiya, you have broken-lines on your palm. I heard that it is very painful when hit by people with broken-line palms.] As she continued to look, suddenly Ella grabbed Michael Zhang's arm and started to gnaw on it. She even looked around in satisfaction while murmuring to herself: [Although you have a broken-line palm, your flesh is still quite tasty….

Kwon Sang-woo in Hollywood

Asia's star kwon Sang-woo has been able to break through the language barrier and part take in this film!
It is known that Kwon's English hasn't been perfect throughout the audition with the main actor Seth Rogen, however, it was successful.
The filming will begin this September and will be released in 2010.
Other stars in this film are Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz.
Green Hortnet has been a popular radio drama of 1930s and has been made into a film in 1940. It has also been loved as comic books and TV series.
Green Hornet's main character is about a hero who works in a newspaper company as an editor which she inherited from her father and in the night living as a green hornet wearing a black mask defeating enemies.
Kwon's role will be that of a driver of the green hornet. Kwon will be driving Black Beauty which is a top rate automobile.

What a hunk?? Kwon Sang Woo who's popularity increase here in the Philippines after he starred in Stairway to Heaven opposite Choi Ji-Woo. YOON EUN HYE
The coffee maker, Andie from the hit series Coffee Prince and the lady princess of the Princess Hours series, Yoon Eun Hye showed her sexiness in Vogue girl mag.
WAAAH! She is definitely hot, I see a different side of her, a more mature one. Far from her roles in the said series. I'm really a fan of her, she really has a good acting skills, beauty and charm. If I were a boy (as beyonce said) I will fall for her hehehe... Based on what I read she will have a new drama series that will be shown this Aug 2009 at KBS entitled My Fair Lady previously Lady Castle. The drama also stars Yoon Sang-hyun and Jung Il-woo.

KIM BUM
Kim Bum, the good-looking man who played as Yi Jeong in Korea's Version of Hana Yori Dango which is the Boys over Flowers. He played womanizer in the series. I really like his looks and acting very effective. His chemistry with Chu Ga Eul or Kim So Eun was really cute. By the way, Kim Bum has a new project under SBS Drama entitled "Dream". A much masculine and tougher character as a skilled pickpocketer.
Its really nice his taking a different genre or level of acting. It's really a must for an actor to try different characters, create new image so that he can showcase his acting.I read that he took kickboxing lessons for his role. As what the article said "A Korean-Japanese drama shows the world of sports business through different characters' ambitions, despairs, love, and maturity".

Chinese "BOYS OVER FLOWERS"
From an anime, the love story of a poor girl and a rich boy, comes different adaptations from asian countries. It started from the famous F4 of Taiwan which was the METEOR GARDEN, Japan's Hana Yori Dango, Korean's Boys over Flowers which is showing right now in ABS-CBN, and to be release Chinese Version from F4 to H4. The drama is supposed to premiere in August of this year on Hunan TV.

Wondergirls are gaining more and more popularity, specially with their single "Nobody". The first time I heard and watched the steps of their single was in the reality show We Got Married starring Kim Hyun Joon of F4 and Hwang bo. In WGM 2 of the wondergirls had a blind date with 2 of the boys of SS501. Its really funny cause the paired couples dance the chorus of the song. The choreo of the song was catchy and I really like it.

According to the agency, the producers of the group created a stage similar to that from the music video of the group’s hit song “Nobody,” while the Web site of the program (www.wendyshow.com) currently shows Williams greeting visitors in Korean. The Web site also carries a short trailer showing the girl group performing.
American comedian, actor and former talk show host for comedy and variety show Saturday Night Live Jimmy Fallon will also appear on the show.
“It’s like a dream come true that the girls have been invited to the Wendy Williams show that will be aired live all across the United States. The members are both excited and nervous at the same time and are currently preparing for the show. We are very proud to see the girls doing well after all the hard work they have been through,” an official from JYP Entertainment said through a press release.
The Wonder Girls are currently opening the Jonas Brothers’ tour that runs through Aug. 31. They are now stationed in New York.

GONG YOO
Gong Yoo a Korean actor was I think best remembered as Arthur in GMA 7's Asianovela COFFEE PRINCE or Choi Han Kyul in Korean version. I have totally enjoyed watching him in this series. His good in portraying the role specially when he believed his falling in love with Andie (Yoon Eun Hye) who he thought was a real man. He really takes the time to understand the character he is portraying and bring them to life with such a diverse versatility that I find myself sharing the same emotions he expresses.
